Our Story
Alisson’s is a locally owned, independent restaurant—and a true family business in every sense of the word. Recently, our fourth generation of family members joined the team, continuing a tradition that began more than 50 years ago in the heart of Kennebunkport’s Dock Square. Known to locals and visitors alike, Alisson’s has long been the place to experience casual excellence in a warm, welcoming setting. Our story began in November of 1973, when local couple Beatrice and Francis “B & Fran” Condon purchased the former Smith’s Market and Chat & Chew Restaurant. The market was renamed Dock Square Market, and the family set out to find the perfect name for the restaurant.
The inspiration came from their oldest grandchild, Alisson, who was often serenaded by her Uncle Scott with a playful rendition of Arlo Guthrie’s classic “Alice’s Restaurant.” The decision was unanimous—“Alisson’s Restaurant” felt just right for the new family venture. Dock Square Market and Alisson’s Restaurant quickly became local favorites. Alisson’s remained a cozy 35-seat restaurant until 1984, when B & Fran’s eldest son and daughter, Mike Condon and Pam Padget (Alisson’s mother), purchased the business. At that time, Dock Square Market was closed, allowing Alisson’s to expand into the space. The renovation added a bar and dining room on the main floor, along with a 50-seat dining room upstairs, helping the restaurant grow while staying true to its roots.
Over the years, Alisson’s has continued to evolve through thoughtful renovations and upgrades. Yet at its core, it remains exactly what it was from the beginning: a beloved gathering place for locals, offering a casual, family-friendly atmosphere where great food, genuine hospitality, and community come together.
